Obituary for Gladys Linda Savino

Gladys Linda Savino, age 89, of Rio Verde, AZ passed away Monday, September 26th, 2022.

Born on December 28, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, she is the daughter of the late Henry and Ethel Webster. She was married to her husband Ben Savino for 68 years. She was a loving wife, mother and the best “Meemaw” ever, according to her four grandchildren.

Gladys worked for over 20 years as the school secretary in the Weston, Connecticut School System. Gladys was an exceptional homemaker; she loved tending to her family. She had a passion for sewing, knitting, and crocheting and loved knitting sweaters for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting prayer shawls for the sick with a parish woman’s group.

Along with her interest in crafts, she enjoyed sports and was an accomplished water skier and swimmer. She was an active member of the Niners’ Golf Group in Rio Verde. Although she did not begin playing golf until her late sixties, she won the Niners’ Club Championship when she was in her late seventies.

In addition to her husband Ben, Gladys is survived by three children and four grandchildren; daughter Sister Damien Marie (Karen) Savino, FSE, of Lowell, Michigan; son Ken Savino and grandson Nicholas of Avon, CT; son Scott Savino and his wife Villy and three granddaughters, Layla, Emma, and Mia Savino of Clarkesville, GA. She is also survived by one sister, Susan Creighton, of Carefree, Arizona, and was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Webster.
